This Yale P117 ventilation window lock is ideal for ground floor flats or windows that need to be opened for some ventilation but still keeping window secure from unwanted intruders as the window can be locked in a part openend fashion while still being secure. This lock is finished in white.

I searched far and wide for Ventilation Locks suitable for PVC and Metal window frames.
On receiving this product, the packaging states 'suitable for wooden frames' ...I was slightly miffed. However, on further investigation, these locks are suitable for PVC and Metal frames IF the correct screws (and drill bits of course!) purchased separately, are used.
This still totals a reasonable price for security and peace of mind.

The info on this item does not clearly state it is NOT SUITABLE for uPVC windows.

Also, when I got the item it was not possible to unlock the locking section, so it could not be fitted.

Had to return it.

Wanted a catch to allow a fairly large upstairs wooden bathroom window to open for ventilation but still be safe for children. This is fairly quick and easy to fit and works well. If it is out of reach of children and there is also a catch to hold the window shut you do not need to use the key to lock it each time. You can then open the window for ventilation temporarily without faffing with a key but have the option to lock it in place if you need to. The metal nut is a little industrial looking but overall it probably looks as unobtrusive as these things get.
